Job Details

A Kitchen Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial kitchen equipment in restaurants, hotels, catering facilities, and other food service establishments. This role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and the ability to ensure that all equipment operates safely and efficiently in compliance with Dutch health and safety standards.

Duties:

• Install and set up kitchen appliances (ovens, fryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, grills, etc.).
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime.
• Diagnose and repair faults in electrical, gas, and plumbing systems related to kitchen machinery.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform on-site troubleshooting.
• Keep detailed maintenance logs and report issues to management.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
• Coordinate with suppliers for spare parts and new installations.
• Provide training to kitchen staff on safe use of appliances.

What skills are needed:

• Strong technical knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment (electrical, mechanical, and gas-based).
• Proficiency in reading technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Problem-solving and fault-diagnosis skills under time pressure.
• Safety-conscious mindset with understanding of Dutch workplace regulations (NEN standards).
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair tasks.
• Good communication skills for coordination with chefs, managers, and suppliers.
• Physical fitness (lifting heavy appliances, working in tight spaces).

What is the package?

• 2,500 to 3,000 Euros net per month (entry to level to mid level experience).
• Experienced technicians 3,500+ Euros net per month.
